Bosch 13 Place Settings Dishwasher Guide

Bosch 13 Place Settings Dishwasher Review

This Bosch 13 place setting dishwasher is elegant and efficient, so you can get the dishes done easily. Compact and elegant, the Bosch 13 Place Settings Dishwasher features 13 place settings. The dimensions are 84.5 x 60 x 60cm, making it ideal for all types of kitchens. It also fits into small spaces.

Additionally, the metallic silver look of the machine enhances the interior. The top-front panel has most of the buttons and controls, so it is very user-friendly. Users can easily select appropriate settings to wash their dishes. Simply open the dishwasher and load the dirty crockery. No pre-rinsing is necessary.

You can choose from six different wash modes with the Bosch 13. As a result, you can customize the dishwashing experience according to your needs. A special Intensive Kadhai mode is designed to remove the grease and oily masala used in Indian food. If you want your utensils to shine again, you can trust this Bosch dishwasher.

It also offers modes for saving time and water. With these, dishwashing can be accomplished in 59 minutes using only 10 liters of water. (A typical dishwasher uses 60 liters of water!) Thus, Bosch 13 is quite efficient. You can also use the extra-dry mode to enhance drying quality. This allows you to skip drying the crockery.

Moreover, since this is a 13-place settings machine, it has a large washing capacity. It can easily fulfill the requirements of a family with 4 to 5-members. Each type of crockery has its own rack. The top rack is reserved for fragile glassware, while the bottom rack is for pans and pots. The design makes it easy to organize things.

This amazing dishwasher has only one drawback: it is extremely noisy at 52dB. Given the price, one might expect a lower noise level. Although, if you don’t spend most of your time in the kitchen, it won’t be much of a bother. Furthermore, Bosch has also backed this product with a 2-year warranty and a 10-year warranty against rust.

5-star based on about 4 months of use. Family of 3, used every day.Cleans 99% of utensils, except really burnt ones. Even milk vessel come out completely clean if placed properly.Even the one odd utensil, just need a little wipe with a scrubber.Great for cleaning chimney filters. Forget about caustic soda, hot water for chimney filter cleaning.Water consumption:———————–~4 liters in one stage, so about 12-16 liters for a full load depending on the program.Electricity (assuming 6 Rs per unit/KWH)————————————————All depends on the program you are using. It has 6 programs. You can modify each program by addons like vario eco, half load, extra dry.Had a spare electricity meter and rigged up with the dishwasher. Here are some of the mode I have tried using and measuring. Vario eco is a modification which increases the cycle time to optimize electricity without compromising wash quality. Half load never needed to use. Extra dry, never needed since we got all utensils dry without using it.Pre-rinse: 0.01-0.02 units – 6-12 paisaAuto: 1.17 units – 7.02 RsAuto+vario eco: 0.69 units – 4.14 RsQuick: 0.59 units – 3.54 RsIntensive kadhai+vario eco: 1.26 units – 7.56 RsEco+vario eco: 0.76 units – 4.56 RsWe use the Eco+vario eco combination and results have been exceptional. We have put all sorts of utensils aluminium, wood, plastic, disposable plastic, teflon and nothing really wrong happened in this mode. I feel that if there is no urgency vario eco should be used. Quick mode is not recommended for highly soiled utensils.Energy consumption is pretty much in line with the technical specification.Detergent, resin (salt), rinse aid————————————-We have used finish and Fortune products.Detergent: We have used 2 Kgs in 4 months. One full load every day. In my opinion Fortune is good if not better than Finish. We have been using Fortune lately and washing has been good. It doesn’t darken the aluminum as badly as Finish.Rinse aid: Usage depends on the setting. At a level set to 3/6, we have used 400 ml of rinse aid.Salt: Usage depends on setting. Our water hardness is around 760 ppm and the hardness testing strip suggested setting of 5/7. At this setting 1 kg should last 3-4 months. But if the hardness is high then this may need to increase. Salt consumption increases a lot at level 6 and 7. Yet to measure these levels. Not sure if it was the setting but the first pack lasted only for a week but then i changed the setting and consumption is quite less now. The last pack has been around for about 2 months now and still has about 30% left.If I calculate for Fortune products. It is 110 detergent + 30 rinse aid + 50 (max) for salt.Total cost of running assuming (Eco+vario eco+ 1 load per day)————————————————————————-Electricity ~ 150Consumables ~200At 350 pm, we do not have to put up with the constant threat of our maid’s leaves, pay hikes. Quality of wash is far superior than hand wash. But since dishwashers are not so popular in India, getting consumables is a problem at offline stores not even the biggest retail stores seem to store them. But Amazon helps a lot. There are quite a few brands sold online, but plan for the lead time.Cons:—–1) It takes some time to learn to fitting all utensils. Results seem to improve over time.2) Loading takes about 10 mins if done at once. So you need to invest 10 mins everyday.3) Big household who need more than one load may have to run it twice.4) You need to depend only on authorized service centers for service. Don’t expect technicians from outside will be able to repair this. But all brands who sell dishwashers are established brands and service centers are found in most places. Metros should not have issues at all.5) Cost of spares may be high due to low demand. But parts are supposed to be reliable. Only time will tell.6) fitting it under sink may be an issue. Check height, but doable if you are resourceful. There are lots of videos on youtube which explains the operation and loading. You can get an estimate of how many utensils you can load in one go. But none explained the actual cost of a typical use case.If you love to be independent, a dishwasher truly is indispensable. Hope this clears most of the doubt every new buyer has, like I had before.

  2. Amazon Customer

Received the product 10 days ago . Working is as expected. Two points I would like to mention about this order .1. For the first time, I did not like Amazon Customer response and product handling . I had to personally follow-up with Bosch for installation and Demo. I felt for big ticket item , Flipkart is better from where I bought a Front-loading washing machine one month back. Even contacting Amazon Customer care did not help. No follow-up phone call from Amazon either even after registering the complain. One start less for this issue.2. After using the Dishwasher, I fail to understand why it costs so much ! A washing machine at least has one heavy duty motor . A dishwasher does not have that also ! I think cost is prohibiting factor to adopt it in more household.Review after one month of usages :The electricity bill has come quite high – more than Rs 700/- from avag monthly bill. It seems it is due to Dishwasher . Otherwise , it it working fine.

This review is based on my purchase of Bosch Dishwasher Machine. I got the silver colour. Only relevant difference between the silver and white colour model is the outer colour. Refer to the specs I have added in the pictures.Update – No issues faced in 1.5 years. Daily using machine once every night after dinner. Only maintenance needed are the consumables and ocassionally cleaning the water exit filter inside the machine on the base. A really trouble free 18 months of use. Adding more pictures. Experience – Very happy overall with the machine’s performance. Family is pleased with our decision to go for this machine. Less worries about cleaning utensils and also no maid related challenges.Machine has cleaned vessels including steel cookers, kadhai, tea vessels, milk boiling vessels, cups, plates – ceramic as well as steel, spoons etc. all very well, without any stains left and shining. We have tried Quick Wash and Eco modes. Quick mode is a 30 minutes cycle and Eco 1:30 minutes cycle. Eco mode performs very well on tough vessels for a fully loaded machine with mix of utensils including cookers, kadhai etc. along with items used in cooking and eating typical Indian food. If we do little rinsing and stack the utensils properly with no utensil covering another one, results are amazing. Basically we need to ensure vessels are placed upside down or at a angle in the stacking racks so that the water spray from the two rotating fans can reach the surface to be cleaned.Adding few pictures.Commonly asked questions -1. Will it fit in kitchen or utility area? -It is a free standing model so it can stand on its own like a typical washing machine where ever we place it. You just need a water inlet and a waste water outlet (drain). Size of the product – 84.5 (height) x 60 (width) x 60 cm (depth). Give another 5 cm clearance needed on each side (left and right) and may be 10 to 15 cm on rear for pipe routing.2. Pipe size – Water inlet – This pipe has threaded connections on each side, one right angle one that screws on rear of the machine and other side which needs to connect to a water source/tap. This is a 1 inch (25.4mm) threaded connection. See picture of this part with measurement, that I am adding. This is not a commonly used standard size of 1/2 inch (12.7mm) or 3/4 inch (19.05mm) thread as per tap connections typically found in Indian sanitary installations. So will need an adapter based on what pipe/tap is available for your water connection. The installation guy sold one to me for Rs 300 to connect this pipe to sink tap to get me started on the machine. The length of pipe is around 1.5m and can be short or enough based on where your water source connection is. This pipe is strong and rigid.3. Drain outlet. – Waste water outlet. – This is a typical drain pipe you will find coming out of a washing machine may be a little smaller size diameter (appx 1 inch or 2.5 cm) but flexible. This can be routed and put inside a drain hole under kitchen sink.4. For installation, should the drain pipe run on the floor level or at a certain height. – The drain water comes out from machine through a pump. As per the specification of the machine this can pump drain water up to approximately 1m height. So you can route this drain pipe to a sink hole even if it is little higher than the machine level.5. What is the long plastic + rubber strip that comes inside the unit package for? It is not very clear in the installation literature but this is a dust/liquid blocking cover strip that gets pushed and installed under the machine door in the front bottom side. Refer to one of the pictures I have added.6. Detergent and Consumables – So far we have tried Finish Classic powder detergent, Finish Rinse Aid, IFB Salt all purchased from Amazon. Usage of detergent is 15 gram to 20 gram. Machine’s detergent socket has clear indicator showing 15, 20, 25gm mark. Even the detergent box lid has similar marking for estimating the quantity. These consumables have given good results.7. What not to put in dishwasher?Use utensils which are dishwasher safe. Aluminum vessels are not recommended to be put in dishwasher as the chemicals like detergent and rinse aid may chemically react with Aluminum and spoil the surface finish. I checked even the hard anodized aluminum items including from Hawkins are not dishwasher safe as per Hawkins so I have not put those. Some high end aluminum products are specifically designated as dishwasher-safe, those may be safe to use.Teflon coated non stick items are also not recommended to be cleaned in dishwasher. Plastics are in general dishwasher safe but should be heavy enough so that they don’t move around inside due to water pressure spray and check if they can withstand water temperature up to 70 degree C. From Finish website – Plastic is not typically ‘treated’ to make them dishwasher safe, rather the type of plastic that an item is made from determines whether or not it is dishwasher safe. If a plastic has a very low melting point then the high temperatures of a dishwasher can cause it to melt, but other types of plastic could become brittle and crack. Also most knife manufacturers don’t recommend knifes to be put in dishwashers as the edge may get blunt after coming in contact with some chemicals for longer duration at high temperature.Wood and water don’t go well if in contact for long time. Wooden items like belan and wooden cutting boards may also absorb chemicals and may get swelled and broken up is they contain glue etc. which can separate when hot.8. Which make? In case you have doubt between which model or make to select e.g. Siemens or Bosch. Please note that both Siemens and Bosch dishwashers are made and sold by same company worldwide. You can do a search online for Siemens Bosch Dishwashers and find that both the brands are now owned and manufactured by BSH Household Appliances Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. which is now fully owned by Bosch that’s why the size, features of most common models for both brands are same. For the Siemens vs Bosch products in same price range only difference is the buttons and control panel layout. Internals, rear, dimensions are exactly the same. So make your choice based on the layout, colour and which model is available for best price on the day you are making your purchase decision.9. Delivery and Installation Experience -Purchased machine from Amazon and delivery was delayed by Bluedart after two days but was happy to receive the machine in good shape in it’s sealed original packing. Installation was a below average experience. Bosch has outsourced installation to third party service providers and it seems many of the technicians are not well trained. Instead of focusing on quality of installation and doing a proper demo the person was more interested in selling items like filters, dishwasher cover etc. and if we were asking him questions on functioning, modes etc he was getting annoyed and just wanted to get signature on the installation form and go. He filled some of the form even without checking things. E.g. he is supposed to measure voltage and also check leakage voltage with a multi meter to make sure machine is safe to touch and no shock. He just filled 235V and 0V in the form even without opening his bag for multimeter (I doubt if he even had a meter in his bag). He even started the machine with packet of sample detergent lying inside the machine. Finally I had to let him go and give finishing touches to installation, do proper cable and pipe routing myself and then had machine up and running.Bosch needs to bring up the level of installation service of course different consumers may have a different experience on service depending on which technician gets assigned to a specific job. Please be careful in installation and get it done with all care.10. Energy consumption update -Based on usage pattern of 2 months with most of the the time using quick mode which is only 30 minutes cycle with hot water and machine running once a day (every night). Our power consumption has gone up by 15 to 17 units of electricity from pre-installation six months average which in my highest slab of Rs 6.25 per unit costs that our power utility charges at this time costs Rs 94 to Rs 106 per month. As per official data Quick wash consumes total energy of 0.56 kWh so for 30 washes it should take 16.8kWh which matches very close to my real life usage data.11. Capacity – What size dishwasher in terms of cleaning capacity?Dishwashers come in different sizes which are defined in units of place settings.Number of people vs Place settings size recommended1-2 persons – 6-9 Place settings2-4 persons- 9-12 Place settings4+ persons- 12+ Place settingsPlace setting definition – The industry defines a place setting as one each of a dinner plate, desert plate, glass, soup bowl, tea cup including saucer, and one set of cutlery (spoon, fork). So a dishwasher of 12 place setting has an max capacity of 12 set of these many utensils if arranged as per recommendations from the manufacturer. Now not every one uses these every day (like you may only use a dinner plate and not a desert plate) plus you may want to clean bigger vessels used for cooking like pans and plates and bowls may be smaller or bigger etc. So dishwasher tray including this Bosch model provides some options to adjust the stacking rack or tines so that you can fit your dishes to clean. As pots, pans and cooking vessels are not of standard sizes the dishwasher manufacturers define capacity in terms of place settings.Let me know if found this detailed information helpful or if you have more questions and I will be happy to share my experience. We had a lot of questions and doubts before making the decision to get a dishwasher here in Indian kitchen setup and so wanted to help other customers save time by sharing our experience so that they can make an informed choice.

What an amazing product. does its job perfectly given that you know how to use it properly, that is knowing what utensils should go in, type of water supply, electric supply.Dishes come out sparkling clean everytime and i do not have to worry about hiring an external help to clean my dishes.avoid putting copper bottom utensils, thin aluminium vessels, soft plastic things, cheap glass wares. if you put any of these, there are high chances that there will be some unpleasant marks and erosion of material on ur utensils. i had 1 cheap glass bowl received it free with some product, its surface become slightly rough after wash.. that too in quick wash cycle where temp was 45 C.Machine has 6 programs, just different temperatures at which water is heated and utensils are washed with it.i mainly use ECO and quick modes for washing, as the name suggests,ECO mode saves on electricity and water, it washes your dishes at 50 C heated water. here you can put aluminium kadahi given that it is heavy quality and not a weak smaller one. i personally use 2 aluminium kadahi to wash at this temp, one is large sized and other is medium sized, along with it i usually put 4-5 plates, 3 big ones and 2 medium sized on the bottom rack. for the top rack i arrange as many smaller steel utensils like spoons forks plates tea plates, tea cups, mixer chutney jar and as such. i also put plastic tea strainers and steel strainers too, but on the top right smaller rack, they come out clean, you also put knives there, idea is to get the delicate items washed but also keep it slightly away from the intense jet spray of heated water. For some reason, my tea saucepan steel utensil always come out like 80% cleaned, there are marks on sides of utensil, i guess it has to do with the quality of the utensil i have, because the other steel suacepan always come out clean and it is a bit heavy than this one.Quick mode washes your dishes at 45 C temprature, this is best suited for your glass wares and slightly soiled dishes.intensive kadahi mode, as it says washes the dishes at highest temprature, 70 C, personally i have not used it and i do not intend to use it either, reason higher elec consumption and for me dishes come out clean at ECO 50C and Express Sparkle 65 C programs.Auto mode chooses automatically chooses the right amount of temp for wash, inbuilt sensor.there are 3 modes to the left of the panel, vario eco, reduces electricity by about 40% i guess but wash cycle is longer, 3 hours 30 minutes to be exact, extra dry makes sure your dishes are perfectly dried and ready to put in cupboard, personally i dont use this too either, after wash cycle i just let the dishes sit in dishwasher for 10-15 minutes, they get dried eventually. half load, just put the utensils on bottom rack, saves water.make sure you have soft water supply, i would recommend avoid using untreated borewell water directly with the machine, even though you are supposed to use salt which should take care of it but, it might damage the water softening mechanism inside the machine.you place it stationery in one place only and use it. You can also use a stand with wheels and move it when you want in case you need to place the machine away from tap due to space constraints or other reason.water inlet pipe is small, you can extend it if you want, or you can also use the inlet pipe of your full auto washing machine, personally i use my washing machine inlet pipe and have the machine on wheels and move it near tap whenever i need to use it.you are supposed to use only dishwasher detergent, dishwasher salt and rinse aid. personally i use fortune dishwasher detergent, fortune dishwasher salt and finish rinse aid. this trio is much more economical for me to use than combo tablets.WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR PRODUCT.in case you want to wait for your technician to arrive and unbox everything for you, give you demo and install it, you can definitely wait.BUT for the impatient ones like me.. read ahead..open the box and check for any shipping damages, bents or anything as such. take machine out of foam cover and place it on stand or floor. opening the door for first time can be intimidating, place your hand in the groove and other hand on top, and gently pull the door towards you, you will hear a strong click sound.check the inside properly for any manufacturing defect, spray arms are moving properly or not.check the salt bay, filters at the bottom, salt should be empty and dry while there would be some water in the filter area, dont worry, it comes from factory like this, prepared for first use.for filling up salt, open the cover of salt bay, pour 1 litre of drinking water/ soft water into it, and then pour either entire 1 kg packet or as you require, personally i poured about 80% of the packet.place the outlet pipe and inlet pipe and you are ready to go.For the first time usage, i would recommend using ECO mode, takes 1 hour and 30 minutes. see the results for yourself and then decide which wash cycle would suit your needs.Prerinse cycle just rinses your dishes with cold water in 15 minutes to wash off any dirt that has settled on your utensils, this program will not wash your dishes, just a spray of cold water to put off dirt.
