LG 1.5 Ton 5 Star AI DUAL Inverter Split AC Review

Edit: Attached the power consumption data from wipro smart plug app and typical usage time is 13 – 15 hours everyday including night time 7 or 8 hours. No issues at all till now. Use sleep mode during the night for even better power management. During the night times I saw it uses maximum of 800 Watts only to bring the room temp to 24C from 30 C with higher humidity, this is actually really good.Installation done on time, core cutting will be charged additionally if you’re fitting it on a solid concrete brick wall. LG customer service is good that’s why I went with LG. My room is 178sqft and it cools the room for set temperature within 20 mins depending on the outdoor temp. It maintains the cooling consistently. I would suggest using ceiling fan along with it if you’re in larger room so that it’ll spread the cool air everywhere bit faster also will prevent over cooling.About the power consumption this is too good. I tested it for more than a week now and I got very good results with it. My test conditions are 22 – 27 C outdoor temp and indoor I set to 26 with low fan speed I ran it for continuous 8 hours and it only consumed 1.7 – 2 units. In the day time I ran it for 6 hours in the afternoon with the outdoor temp of 35 – 38 C and the consumption was around 3 units.Try to install the outdoor unit in shade area it might help with efficiency. Usually in the day time compressor runs between 350 – 500 watts after set temp reached. In the night if the outdoor temp was low it’ll consume lesser than 250 Watts.Fan mode: There are 5 different fan modes and with 5th settings it only consumes 35 – 40 watts and with 3rd setting it was around 20 watts. With low fan mode it’ll be around 10 – 15 watts only. This is a bldc motor so you would expect this much of low power consumption for fan only modes. I would say this is very energy efficient and more of energy focused model while maintaining excellent cooling capacity.Buy inverter ACs only If you’re planning to use it for more than 5 hrs in a day time because for initial two or three hours it’ll run at full speed of approx. 1600 watts and it’ll clock down the speed after the room got the set temperature so in the hot day it might take bit of a time to achieve the set temp and once achieved it’ll run at steady low power (typically 500watts) so you’ll save lot of power in this case. If you use it for 2 – 3hrs and then turn it off then you’ll not save any buck with inverter ACs as it’ll consume the exact same amount of power as the non inverter ACs also it’s better to go for 3 star ACs so you can save some in upfront cost.In my state eb bill is 3rs/unit if the total consumption was below 500 and if it goes above 500 it’ll be 6.6rs and it is huge hit, so having 5 star AC will definitely save some bucks for me. Do your own calculations with the info I gave above. My test conditions can be applied to any typical south Indian states and it’ll be very marginal difference even if you’re in much hotter places. I’ll update this review after 30 days and I’ll add the overall consumption for 30 days and also will add test conditions too.
