Not very user friendly. Quality and versatility is good but ease of locking mechanism is difficult. A little complicated.

Ravindra Nath Gupta –
We had been using an Inalsa food processor (shown in the first diagram) since over about 20 years and were quite happy using it, before we decided to buy a new model (shown in the later diagram). We are still retaining the older unit – as a back-up, becuse we don’t feel like selling it off.The older processor did undergo replacement of the motor, breakage of the lock on the lid of the processor and due to that, I, being an engineer, opened the black cover and bypassed the switch that was being pressed by the extension in the processor’s cover.Thereafter, we have been operating it through the rotary switch at the front. However, the older unit, being a single, direct driven unit, made lesser noise and kept working smoothly, except that with time, the rubber feet in the base became hard and did not stick to the kitchen slab, plus the electrical cable became hard and gave way at one place and was rectified by me.Since I was involved with providing “technical support/training/documentation” in my last job, I felt that both,(a) design and (b) documentation of the newer model could have been done with a little more attention to the end-users. For example :-(a) In today’s scenerio, hardly a few persons (like me) bother to read the user manual, especially if the font, pictures etc. are not colourful and eye-catching. Why not replace it totally with a video (an attempt has been made here too, but it seems to have failed to educate the users, who are complaining of the machine being “non-functional”/”inoperative”.(b) The design makes it imparative for the user to keep both switches (one operated by the processor and the other by either the blender/grinder or the cover) closed, for the motor to function. This requirement is not clearly understood by many of the end-users, who seem to be apprehensive about this machine.(c) In order to overcome the issue raised in point (b), a click-locking flip-cover, with a hinge could have been provided (since chances of the buyer misplacing this cover are quite high). When closed – this flip-cover could activate the switch. Else, with the cover remaining open, the blender/grinder could activate the same switch. It would have made the instructions related to this requirement quite easy-to-understand.(d) Just as a piece of information, the locking of the processor unit requires quite a bit of force. Most first-time users would be apprehensive about using this amount of force, lest the unit cracks. The main reason for this is also that “breakage of plastic parts” is not covered under the warranty. This is probably the main reason, why many users don’t turn the cover of the processor and the locking/activation of the switch doesn’t take place, causing the motor to “not start”.However, we are quite happy with both these units and since my wife bakes cakes and loves to cook a lot, the processor is being put to good use.Thank you.

I have used Inalsa since 1994. The quality of the product, especially the plastic used for the jar and metals for the blade were a lot better back then . Infact it had an almost glass like quality. Heavy ans sturdy. Did the job well . The current product while good , has some drawbacks. The plastic quality for one is not the same, it seems fragile . I have not used it as heavily as we did back then and am careful with the appliance. I just hope they bring back the old good quality materials and blades
